    Rubber Band Ligation

Rubber Band Application in the Treatment of Hemorrhoidal Disease

Rubber band ligation in the treatment of hemorrhoidal disease 2-3. It is an effective method used in the treatment of highly selected internal hemorrhoids. Ligation is a form of treatment that is only suitable for the treatment of internal hemorrhoids and is not used in the treatment of external hemorrhoids.

In this method, it is aimed to collect and shrink the hemorrhoids with the help of rubber bands placed on the roots of the sagging hemorrhoids. It is important that the tapes are placed in the correct anatomical location. There will be no pain after the hemorrhoid roots are ligated with ligation in the appropriate location and in a way that does not involve the inner muscle fibers underneath. The patient can return to his normal life after the procedure.

As with all treatment options for hemorrhoidal disease, patients must be supported with appropriate diet and bathing before and after the procedure.

Rarely, the procedure may need to be repeated after a few weeks. The bands fall off on their own at the end of the first week. During this time period, the patient may experience some anal bleeding.

This method should be used in patients who use blood thinners such as aspirin, coumadin, plevix, have a compromised immune system, and have low white blood cells, such as patients receiving chemotherapy.
